IZZY THE WONDERDOG AUSSIEDOGZ.ORG  had heard about this news worthy story through the grape vine . A dog named " IZZY "  made a decision that could have , and most likely did , saved a 6 year old girls life .   When we heard of this story , we got on the phone and contacted the family that IZZY belonged to and requested just a simple email to be sent to us that we could post regarding the situation . When we talked to Tom Treichel ( Izzy's dad ) on the phone regarding the situation , I don't think we ever talked to such an humble spirited man , with so much appreciation for a dog and it's love for it's new family .   We also called KARE channel 11 news and spoke with reporter Boyd Huppert on the phone regarding his experience with interviewing the Treichel family . Boyd Huppert's response to our questions regarding the Treichel family was one of amdiration , adding , " a really nice family deserving no harm to come their way . What a great family and an amazing dog " .   I requested permission from KARE Channel 11 for the rights to use any part of the story and or links to their site . My husband always loved hearding dogs...he had a border Collie before we met.  When we purchase our first house Tom brought me home a puppy that was a tri-color aussie mix.   We named him Ozzie... Ozzie grew up with my older boys and in the Fall of 2008 we had to put Ozzie down after 14 years.  It nearly broke my heart.   Several months later I was and needing a dog in my home... Life without a dog felt empty.   I wanted to go through a no kill shelter... and researched on the internet and found the Aussie Rescue in Elk River MN .  Nancy Anderson was the woman we met that Friday evening back in February.  We looked at two dogs and some of my family wanted the male who was a little shy and timid and some wanted the female who wanted our undivided attention.. we went home and prayed that God would guide us to get the right dog for us.     That Monday we let Nancy know that it was the female...  Izzy was found a wandering the streets in Nebraska and it took Aussie Rescue to save her from getting put down.  There were 6 volunteers who helped her get to MN.  We happened to get her a week after her arrival .  Nancy brought Izzy to us to make sure our home was equipped with a fence and she had stated she wasn't eating much , possibly due to her nerves with the long travel etc.  Izzy did look skinny and Nancy said she would put some weight on.  within two hours of excitement to be with us Izzy sat down on the floor by all of us and rested . The next morning Izzy ate all her food in the dish.   I told my husband it's like she knows she is where she is to be.   She was easily wanting to learn sit , stay , and of course the frisbee catching... not even a week of having her I told Tom my husband... she is heaven sent.  God knew we needed her and she needed us.  Then on last Saturday night and early Sunday morning Izzy alerted us a to a man in our house who was talking to our 6 year old daughter in her room.  I am so thankful for Izzy and rescues out there like yours without her we would have never known the evil in our own home.  Izzy knew it was someone different... I have my sister stay with us and she has sleep apnia and sometimes gets up and goes to the restroom at night...Izzy never growled at her...this man she knew was bad news..she did not see him she was with us with the door shut...she heard him and I believe smelt him..  Thank God for our loyal friends.  Dogs are better than alarm systems...no one wants to get bit by a dog..not even bad evil men.
